AP sports coverage spotlights Ohio college basketball eligibility ruling

Original: associated press

Wire service coverage is centering on Ohio Governor Mike DeWine clearing the way for University of Cincinnati guard MJ Collins and Xavier forward Filip Borovicanin to be eligible to play. Attention is also turning to the NFL's Week 5 Sunday slate, with rankings highlighting five games featuring notable offseason additions making an early impact for their new teams.

Why now: A state governor's decision directly affecting two college athletes' eligibility is unusual and lands just as the NFL season heats up.
