Protesters defy Delhi Police relocation order at Jantar Mantar

Original: jantar mantar delhi protest

Delhi Police have directed the Centre for Prayer and Justice (CJP) to move its protest away from Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, offering alternative venues, but the group remains defiant and is continuing its demonstration at the iconic site. Critics, including commentary in The Telegraph India, have asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is 'scared of Jantar Mantar', framing the relocation order as an attempt to push dissent out of public view near the seat of government.

Why now: An ongoing standoff between protesters and Delhi Police over the right to demonstrate at Jantar Mantar has drawn political criticism.
