Honoring Indigenous People's Day Through Education
The American Civil Liberties Union is marking Indigenous People's Day with a call to honor the occasion through education, highlighting the history, cultures and rights of Indigenous peoples. The message encourages the public to learn about Indigenous communities as part of the holiday, which is observed as an alternative to or alongside Columbus Day in many parts of the United States.
Why now: Indigenous People's Day is being observed, prompting organisations to share educational messages about Indigenous history and rights.
