New analysis from Faros AI argues that AI-assisted development is accelerating how much code engineering teams ship, while overall code quality is declining. The report, framed around 'AI acceleration whiplash', suggests teams are producing more output faster but spending more effort dealing with the consequences, prompting debate among developers about whether AI tooling is truly improving software development.
Why now: Developers are actively debating whether AI coding assistants deliver real productivity gains or just more low-quality code.
