QGIS bans AI-generated contributions
Original: QGIS: No AI contributions permitted
The QGIS open-source mapping project has adopted a policy barring AI-generated contributions, laid out in a proposal on its GitHub repository. The move has drawn attention on Hacker News, where it sparked debate over code quality, licensing risks and how volunteer projects should handle machine-generated submissions.
Why now: The debate over AI-generated code in open-source projects is active, and a major project explicitly banning it is notable.
