US envoy to NATO urges Europe to overhaul military infrastructure
Original: US ambassador to NATO tells Europe to overhaul military infrastructure to allow for rapid deployments
The US ambassador to NATO has called on European allies to overhaul their military infrastructure so that troops and equipment can be deployed rapidly across the continent. The appeal points to longstanding concerns over logistics, transport networks and readiness gaps in Europe, and lands as NATO members face continued pressure to raise defence spending and improve their ability to respond quickly to potential threats.
Why now: Ongoing debates over European defence readiness and burden-sharing within NATO have kept attention on US demands for faster deployment capability.
