Epic Games has reportedly delayed its unannounced shooter that would crossover Star Wars and Marvel, as the company pushes its development teams to adopt an "AI first" production model. The report, picked up by gaming outlets including IGN, has drawn attention to how one of the industry's biggest studios is reorganizing production around artificial intelligence, and to the fate of the secretive crossover project.
Why now: The combination of a high-profile delayed crossover game and Epic's reported AI-first mandate touches on two hot industry topics: layoffs-style restructuring and AI in game development.
