Trump pollution rule rollback sparks health fears in US communities
Original: Communities worry for their health after Trump weakens pollution limits: ‘It’s a kick in the gut’
US communities are voicing alarm after the Trump administration moved to weaken federal pollution limits, warning that looser emissions standards could worsen air quality and public health in areas near industrial sites. Residents described the rollback as 'a kick in the gut', and environmental advocates argue the changes sacrifice protection for people most exposed to contaminated air.
Why now: A major environmental deregulation directly affects community health, prompting strong reactions and coverage.
