Matchbox the Movie questioned over its British charm
Original: Shouldn’t # Matchbox the Movie be about genteel English towns and a dog on the back seat of an MG with its head out the
Commentary around Matchbox the Movie raises questions about its direction, suggesting the story should instead centre on genteel English towns and a dog riding in the back seat of an MG with its head out of the window. The remark plays on the contrast between the film's action premise and a much gentler, quintessentially British image of the famous toy car brand. It is a light-hearted take on how a beloved brand is being adapted for the screen.
Why now: People are discussing the mismatch between the Matchbox brand's nostalgic British image and its movie adaptation.
