Montreal police seek suspect in homophobic pepper-spray attack

Original: crime

Montreal police are searching for a man accused of pepper-spraying two people and shouting homophobic slurs at them in the Village last July. The incident has drawn attention amid broader coverage of hate-motivated crime, while other crime stories in Canada this week include a Sault Ste. Marie theft appeal and a new crime anthology launched with help from a Chemainus mystery writer.

Why now: A hate-motivated attack in a prominent LGBTQ neighbourhood has prompted an active police manhunt and public appeals for information.
