US delegation walks out of UN event over anti-Israel remarks
Original: US mission walks out of UN in protest as it did in 2001 at anti-Israel Durban event, Waltz says
The United States mission to the United Nations walked out of a UN event in protest, according to national security adviser Mike Waltz, who compared the move to the American walkout at the 2001 Durban conference against racism, which the US had criticized for anti-Israel language. The withdrawal signals continued US objections to what it views as anti-Israel bias at the UN.
Why now: A high-profile US protest at the UN echoes the contentious 2001 Durban episode, drawing attention to recurring disputes over anti-Israel rhetoric.
