French Navy intercepts Russian shadow fleet tanker in Indian Ocean

Original: KYIV INDEPENDENT: French Navy intercepts Russian shadow fleet tanker in Indian Ocean https:// kyivindependent.com/french

The French Navy has intercepted a Russian shadow fleet tanker in the Indian Ocean. The vessel, the DF Peak, previously sailed under the name Kaliningrad and had falsely flagged itself as Beninese. Shadow fleet tankers are used to move Russian oil while evading Western sanctions and price caps, and the interception signals growing European naval action against these operations far from European waters.

Why now: Europe is stepping up enforcement against Russian sanctions-evading oil shipments, and action in the Indian Ocean shows the campaign going global.
