Swedish state halts family's forest logging

Original: avverkning

Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter reports that the Swedish state has stopped a family's logging operation, with the family telling the newspaper that 'society is shutting down our farm'. The dispute centres on a felling decision blocked by authorities, reviving debate in Sweden over forest owners' rights versus state environmental restrictions on private forestry.

Why now: New reporting on a state decision blocking a family farm's logging has struck a nerve in Sweden's ongoing conflict between forest owners and environmental regulation.
