Walking Jose Ramirez to face Chase DeLauter backfires

Original: Think dodging J-Ram to challenge DeLauter is a good plan? Think again

MLB.com examines a strategy question facing opponents of the Cleveland Guardians: is it wise to pitch around Jose Ramirez to instead challenge rookie outfielder Chase DeLauter? The analysis argues that intentionally avoiding Ramirez only invites trouble, as DeLauter has made pitchers pay for putting runners on base in front of him.

Why now: Opponents are wrestling with how to pitch to a Guardians lineup that pairs star Jose Ramirez with a hot-hitting rookie, and recent results show the dodge is not working.
