Iran has threatened to launch ground incursions into neighboring countries should the United States attack it, according to a report being widely shared. The warning marks an escalation in rhetoric, suggesting Tehran may widen any conflict beyond its own borders and draw regional states into a confrontation between Iran and Washington.
Why now: Tensions over a potential US military strike on Iran are heightening fears of a broader regional war.
