A developer is joining a growing wave of hobbyists creating native PC games, sharing work on a project called Aliens Native, hosted on GitLab. The project leans into retro and arcade styles, a genre seeing renewed interest among independent developers who prefer lightweight games that run directly on PC hardware without engines or emulation layers.
Why now: Indie and retro game development on open platforms like GitLab is currently trending among hobbyist developers.
