MI5 chief warns Iran targeting UK military sites
Original: MI5 chief says Iran is targeting military sites and suspected plot at RAF Fairford is 'not unique’
The head of MI5, Ken McCallum, has warned that Iran is targeting military sites in the UK, describing a suspected plot against RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire as 'not unique'. The alert signals that British security services see Iranian activity against defence installations as ongoing and broader than a single incident, raising concerns about state-directed threats on UK soil.
Why now: The MI5 director general's public warning about Iranian plots against British military bases is an unusual and serious security disclosure.
