The French Navy intercepted and boarded the sanctioned oil tanker DF Peak more than 450 nautical miles south of Réunion Island. France suspects the vessel, linked to Russia's so-called 'shadow fleet', of using a false flag. The boarding marks an escalation in European efforts to enforce sanctions on Russian oil shipments far from European waters.
