Vietnamese human rights defenders Nguyen Duc Thuan, Hiep Tran and Thai Cong Truong Son have been charged with terrorism in Vietnam after they were forcibly disappeared in Cambodia. Rights groups say the men were likely transferred across the border, raising concerns about cross-border cooperation against activists and whether they can receive a fair trial. The charges carry severe penalties under Vietnamese law.
Why now: The apparent cross-border enforced disappearance and terrorism charges have alarmed international human rights organisations.
