NASA's Perseverance rover sets off-world driving record

Original: mars

NASA's Perseverance rover has set a new record for the total distance driven on another world, according to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The six-wheeled robot has now travelled farther than any previous rover on Mars, surpassing the marks set by earlier missions such as Curiosity and Opportunity. The achievement highlights the durability of the rover as it continues exploring Jezero Crater, collecting samples and studying the planet's ancient geology more than three years after landing.

Why now: NASA announced that Perseverance has broken the record for total distance driven on another planet, a notable milestone for Mars exploration.
