Natalya Gromushkina's Dorian Gray staging sparks criticism

Original: Наталья Громушкина гетеросексуализировала «Портрет Дориана Грея»: https://www. kommersant.ru/doc/9024044 🧷 # NatalyaGrom

A review in Kommersant argues that actress and director Natalya Gromushkina's new production of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray reframes the story as a conventional heterosexual romance, stripping away the queer subtext central to Wilde's novel. The criticism is circulating among theatre fans and Wilde admirers, who are debating whether the adaptation betrays the original's themes.

Why now: The staging's perceived erasure of the novel's homoerotic subtext is provoking debate among theatre and literature audiences.
