Apple has partnered with LG and Schneider Electric to co-develop the Apple Home Collection, a smart home hardware line. The range is reported to include indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, and a video doorbell with door lock, expanding Apple's presence in the connected home market.

Why now: Apple rarely co-develops third-party hardware, so the partnerships with LG and Schneider Electric signal a major push into smart home devices.
