UK bird populations fall to lowest level on record
Original: ‘Shocking and sobering’: UK bird populations fall to lowest level on record https://www. theguardian.com/environment/20
Conservationists in the UK have reported that wild bird populations have dropped to their lowest level since records began, a decline described by the RSPB as shocking and sobering. The findings point to continued losses among farmland and woodland species, intensifying concerns about habitat loss, climate change and pesticide use driving wildlife collapse across Britain.
Why now: New data showing record-low UK bird numbers is prompting alarm among conservationists and the public.
