French student movement adopts slogan traced to infiltrated police

Original: bismillah

French student protests have a new slogan, "Bismillah c'est les ténèbres", and it was coined by suspected police officers infiltrating teenagers on Snapchat, according to franceinfo. The officers' attempt to blend in or discredit the high school movement backfired, as students adopted the phrase themselves and it spread widely, turning an apparent entrapment effort into a badge of defiance and an embarrassment for law enforcement.

Why now: Revelation that police allegedly posed as teenagers on Snapchat and accidentally gifted the high school protest movement its slogan is seen as a mocking, viral embarrassment for the authorities
