Original: Murray, Kaptur: As Families Pay More & More for Energy, Reports Show Trump Energy Department Withholding Billions and Playing Politics
Senator Patty Murray and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur say reports show the Trump-era Energy Department is withholding billions of dollars in energy assistance while American families face rising energy bills. The two Democrats accuse the department of playing politics with funding meant to help households, and are demanding the money be released.
Why now: Families are facing rising energy costs and the accusations add to a political fight over federal spending.
