Original: Drone Strikes Didn’t Take Out a Russian Bot Farm, But We Were Primed to Believe It https:// fed.brid.gy/r/https://www.mo
A widely shared story claimed Ukrainian drone strikes had destroyed a Russian bot farm allegedly run through Yandex, blamed for pushing right-wing and MAGA-affiliated narratives as well as content supporting Germany's AfD and Britain's Reform UK. Mother Jones reports the claim did not hold up: the strikes did not take out any such operation. The episode is being cited as an example of how primed audiences are to accept stories about Russian disinformation without verification.
Why now: A viral rumor about a Russian bot farm being destroyed proved false, prompting discussion of why people were so ready to believe it.
