Rescued Green Sea Turtles Returned to the Ocean
Original: Green Sea Turtles Rescued During Smuggling Raid Returned To The Ocean
Green sea turtles that were rescued during a smuggling raid have been released back into the ocean. The turtles had been recovered by authorities from traffickers before being returned to their natural habitat. The release highlights ongoing efforts to combat the illegal wildlife trade, which continues to target sea turtles for meat, shells and the exotic pet market.
Why now: A heartening conservation outcome from a smuggling raid is drawing attention to illegal wildlife trafficking of sea turtles.
