Dutch debate erupts over camera glasses and public privacy
Original: @ barbarakathmann Dit is de omgekeerde wereld. Ik moet dus iemand met een camerabril zeggen dat ik niet gefilmd wil word
A discussion in the Netherlands is unfolding around the growing use of camera glasses in public spaces. Commenters argue the roles have been absurdly reversed: ordinary people must now actively tell someone wearing such glasses that they do not wish to be filmed, only to be recorded before they even notice. Critics say wearers rarely stop when asked and that filming goes unnoticed on the street, raising concerns about consent and privacy in everyday life.
Why now: Camera glasses are becoming more common, prompting worries that bystanders are filmed without consent and have no practical way to object.
