Original: DOJ arrests 2, seizes 187 devices in North Korean laptop farm crackdown in Texas
The US Department of Justice has arrested two people and seized 187 devices as part of a crackdown on a so-called laptop farm in Texas. The scheme allegedly involved North Korean IT workers using fake identities to take remote US jobs, with devices stationed at US residences to disguise their location. The operation highlights growing US enforcement against North Korean workers covertly infiltrating American companies for revenue.
Why now: The scale of the scheme and its implications for remote-work security and North Korean sanctions evasion are drawing wide attention.
