Peace Prize laureate Philippe Sands calls Germany's silence on Israel 'indecent'

Original: + Friedenspreisträger Philippe Sands - Deutschlands Schweigen zu #Israel ist „unanständig“ Friedenspreisträger Philippe

British-French lawyer Philippe Sands, recipient of Germany's Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, has criticised the German government for its silence on Israel, calling it 'indecent'. The remarks, reported by Migazin, have drawn attention in German-speaking media and among commentators debating Germany's stance on Israel amid the ongoing Gaza war and its historical responsibility debates.

Why now: Sands' sharp criticism of German policy toward Israel is controversial given Germany's historical commitment to Israel's security.
