Trump says he may meet Kim Jong Un during Asia trip
Original: Trump says he may meet North Korea's Kim during Asia trip
US President Donald Trump says he may meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un while travelling in Asia. The comments revive the prospect of renewed direct diplomacy between Washington and Pyongyang, and come as Trump tours the region. Any such meeting would draw close attention given North Korea's nuclear programme and the history of on-and-off talks between the two leaders.
Why now: Trump's remarks, made during an Asia trip, raise the possibility of renewed US-North Korea diplomacy at a time of heightened nuclear tensions.
