Munich revives its open-source software push

Original: Münchens Open-Source-Comeback | iX Magazin https://www. heise.de/news/Muenchen-Open-So urce-ist-wieder-da-11484321.html

The city of Munich is once again moving its IT toward free and open-source software, a German tech magazine reports. The return echoes the city's well-known LiMux project, which replaced Microsoft software with Linux before being partly reversed. Reported components include the MUCGPT AI assistant, PostgreSQL, OpenProject, XWiki and Proxmox, and observers are debating whether Munich can set an example for other public administrations under the 'public money, public code' principle.

Why now: Munich's renewed commitment to open-source in public administration is being discussed as a signal for other cities and governments
