UNEP Highlights Urgent Need for Climate Action
Original: Goal 13: Climate Action
The UN Environment Programme is drawing attention to Goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals, which calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. The goal urges countries to strengthen resilience to climate-related hazards, integrate climate measures into national policies, and improve education and awareness. As extreme weather events intensify worldwide, attention is turning to how governments are progressing on their climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.
Why now: Ongoing concern over rising global temperatures and extreme weather keeps climate targets in the public debate.
