UNESCO expands support for Sudanese women scientists
Original: UNESCO Strengthens Opportunities for Sudanese Women Scientists through
UNESCO has announced an initiative to strengthen opportunities for Sudanese women scientists, aiming to expand their access to research, training and professional networks. The announcement comes as Sudan's scientific and academic community continues to face severe disruption from the ongoing conflict, which has displaced researchers and damaged institutions. Observers see the move as an effort to keep Sudanese women in science connected to international opportunities despite the crisis.
Why now: Sudan's conflict has devastated higher education and research, so international support for displaced women scientists draws attention.
