EU Sends €2.86 Billion to Ukraine for Drones and Missiles
The European Union has approved a €2.86 billion payment to Ukraine earmarked for drones and missiles, drawing on proceeds from frozen Russian assets under its ERA scheme. Supporters see it as vital military support as the war continues, while some member states remain uneasy about using immobilised Russian funds to arm Kyiv.
Why now: The scale of the funding and its use of frozen Russian assets make it a major and contested step in EU support for Ukraine.
