Electric vehicles may help pollinators find flowers again
Original: How electric vehicles could help pollinators find flowers again # Environment # Pollinators # EVs # Bees # AirPollution
A new discussion is highlighting how a switch to electric vehicles could benefit bees and other pollinators. Exhaust pollution is known to break down the floral scent molecules that insects rely on to locate flowers, so cleaner air from fewer combustion engines could allow pollinators to forage more effectively. Commenters in environmental circles are sharing the finding as a lesser-known climate and biodiversity co-benefit of electrifying transport.
Why now: It connects air pollution from cars to declining bee populations, an unexpected angle on the EV debate.
