Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont credited with returning NBA games to China
Original: The ‘most important person’ in bringing NBA games back to China? Mavs owner Patrick Dumont
Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont is being described as the most important figure in bringing NBA games back to China, according to a New York Times report. The league suspended games in China in 2019 after a tweet by a Houston Rockets executive sparked a political rift. Dumont's business ties, including his role at Las Vegas Sands, are seen as key to the reconciliation.
Why now: Reports that NBA games could resume in China mark a major reversal of the league's six-year standoff, and Dumont's behind-the-scenes role is new information.
