Harrie Lavreysen wins eighth straight world sprint title
Original: harrie lavreysen
Dutch track cyclist Harrie Lavreysen has won his eighth consecutive world title in the sprint at the Track Cycling World Championships, completing a hat-trick of golds at the event. Dutch media note that, despite being relatively unknown to the wider public, no Dutch male athlete has won as many medals as he has. He is also switching to a new bike ahead of the LA Olympics, after being forced to part with his old one.
Why now: Lavreysen has just extended his remarkable world championship streak, prompting debate about whether he is the most decorated and underrated Dutch athlete.
