Thick haze blankets Singapore in dramatic images

Original: Pictures of the haze that has engulfed Singapore look insane! I didn't know Singapore suffered from such seasonal issues

Singapore is once again shrouded in heavy haze, with striking photos circulating online showing the city-state obscured by smog. Commenters are expressing surprise at the severity of the seasonal problem, noting that the pollution largely stems from fires and land clearing in neighbouring Indonesia rather than anything Singapore itself controls. The transboundary haze is a recurring issue during dry seasons, affecting health, outdoor activity and daily life across the region whenever winds carry the smoke southward.

Why now: New dramatic photos of the annual transboundary haze engulfing Singapore are circulating, prompting fresh discussion of the seasonal pollution crisis.

• Pictures of the haze that has engulfed Singapore look insane! I didn't know Singapore suffered from such seasonal issues! Although the difference is obviously that it has little to do with what's happening within its own country and more with externalities outside its control. · think_in_points · 3
