Farm animals cannot wait any longer
Animal welfare advocates are pressing for faster action on the welfare of farmed animals, arguing that reforms long promised by policymakers are being delayed. Eurogroup for Animals is calling on European Union institutions to move ahead with long-awaited rules on how livestock are kept, transported and slaughtered. Campaigners say animals continue to suffer in intensive systems while legislation remains stalled, and that delay is no longer defensible.
Why now: Long-promised EU animal welfare legislation has been delayed, prompting animal welfare groups to pressure policymakers.
