Hospitality bosses warn of staff shortages under migration cuts

Australian hospitality industry leaders are warning that proposed cuts to migration would leave cafes and kitchens unable to fill jobs, with restaurants and hotels heavily reliant on migrant workers. Critics of the industry argue employers should raise wages and improve conditions rather than depend on migrant labour, framing the shortage warnings as a defence of a low-paid workforce.
Why now: Migration policy is under debate in Australia and the hospitality sector's reliance on migrant workers has become a flashpoint.
