An urgent fundraising appeal has been launched for Zeehondencentrum, the largest seal hospital in Europe, with the care of around 70 seals said to be at stake. Supporters are being urged to donate directly, with incentives such as a free postcard offered to those who join the drive. The appeal is spreading through wildlife-focused communities online.
Why now: Animal welfare supporters are rallying to raise money for a rescue centre whose seal patients need funding.
