Brazil's prosecutor general opposes removal of Federal Police director

Original: procurador-geral

Brazil's attorney general (PGR) has publicly spoken out against the removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, according to CNN Brasil. The statement puts the prosecutor's office at odds with those pushing for the ouster, and the episode is drawing attention in Brasília as debates over the leadership and independence of the Federal Police continue to divide institutions.

Why now: A clash between top legal institutions over control of the Federal Police leadership is politically sensitive in Brazil right now.
