OpenAI alleges ex-employee took files on unreleased device to Apple
Original: OpenAI: Employee who left for Apple took files about unreleased device
OpenAI alleges that an employee who left the company for Apple took files relating to an unreleased device, according to a Reuters report. The claim points to growing tension between the two companies as OpenAI works on consumer hardware while hiring from, and losing staff to, Apple. Details about the device and any legal action remain limited.
Why now: OpenAI publicly accusing a departing employee of taking confidential hardware files is a striking escalation in the OpenAI-Apple rivalry over consumer devices.
