Rory McIlroy calls LIV Golf 'half a good idea', backs player returns
Original: Rory McIlroy calls LIV Golf 'half a good idea' before saying he'd vote yes on having players return to Tour
Rory McIlroy, long one of the PGA Tour's most vocal critics of LIV Golf, described the Saudi-backed circuit as 'half a good idea' while saying he would vote yes on allowing LIV players to return to the Tour. The comments mark a notably softened stance from the Northern Irishman, who spent years leading criticism of the breakaway league, and signal a possible shift toward reconciliation in golf's civil war.
Why now: McIlroy has been golf's most prominent LIV critic, so his softened tone suggests a real shift in the sport's divide.
