Zelenskyy reportedly feels betrayed by Trump's Russia diesel deal
Original: Zelenskyy Feels Betrayed by Trump's Russia Diesel Deal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is said to feel betrayed by a reported arrangement under which Donald Trump's administration would allow Russia to continue selling diesel, reportedly as part of peace-deal negotiations. The claim has drawn criticism that the United States is prioritising energy interests and a quick settlement over Ukraine's position, while supporters of a negotiated end to the war argue economic ties with Moscow could help lock in peace.
Why now: Reports of a US accommodation with Russia on diesel exports raise fears that Ukraine is being pressured into a settlement against its interests.
