Army reopens $50 billion MAPS contract to small business teams only
Original: Army reopens $50B MAPS contract to small business teams only
The US Army has reopened its Medical Advanced Planning System (MAPS) contract, worth roughly $50 billion, restricting competition to teams of small businesses only. The move opens one of the defense health sector's largest procurement opportunities exclusively to small business groupings, reshaping which firms can bid on major Army medical programs.
Why now: The enormous contract value and the restriction to small business teams significantly change the competitive landscape for defense contractors.
