Angela Merkel launches new talk series for school students

Original: angela merkel

Angela Merkel is taking part in a new interview series, 'Merkel unplugged', speaking directly with school classes. The conversation with pupils begins today at 5 p.m. and is available as an audio stream via Deutschlandfunk's app. The format marks a rare public appearance by the former German chancellor, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since leaving office.

Why now: Merkel rarely makes public appearances since stepping down as chancellor, so a new talk series draws wide attention.
