Sally Rooney Pulls Books From UK Publisher Over Palestine Action
Original: Sally Rooney Withdraws Her Books From UK Over Her Support of Palestine Action
Author Sally Rooney is withdrawing her books from publication in the United Kingdom, citing her support for Palestine Action, the pro-Palestinian group that has been the focus of a major legal and political controversy in Britain. The move means new UK editions of her novels will not proceed, and the decision is drawing wide attention and debate over free expression, boycotts and the group's proscription.
Why now: The Irish novelist's public backing of Palestine Action and the resulting withdrawal of her books is a high-profile clash between literature, politics and UK law.
