Cape Town has held a memorial for children killed in Gaza, writing their names on a 20-meter shroud as part of ongoing pro-Palestinian mourning actions. The event is being shared widely online alongside calls for a ceasefire, with supporters using the hashtag Mothers4Gaza to draw attention to the civilian toll of the war and to solidarity demonstrations held in South Africa and elsewhere.
Why now: The Gaza war and South Africa's prominent pro-Palestinian stance keep such memorial actions in public attention.
